Every year over 1.3 billion passengers use the London underground railway and over 2.4 billion passenger journeys are taken on London buses. We were thrilled to put our mapping expertise to the test by creating the maps for TfL’s website Journey Planner.

Why?

Because London’s residents, visitors and commuters want access to maps that are up to date with the latest travel information and work on their mobile device when they need it most.

Our solution

TfL approached earthware to create real time, mobile friendly, interactive maps to enhance the user experience across their website. Key to the success of the project was the ability to pull data from across TfL’s systems and display this in real time on a simple, user friendly mapping interface. A complex undertaking – just how we like it!

We worked closely with the TfL web development teams to give them exactly what they needed in time for the launch of the new tfl.cov.uk site. Using the Google Maps platform, we designed, developed and integrated over 15 different map solutions across the site including journey planner, congestion charging and traffic status updates.
